Quality and Environmental Management System

Our approach to our work is the basic principle that Quality cannot be taken for granted. Quality can only be achieved by careful consideration of all matters that could influence the outcome. This requires not only planning and control of the entire process, but the assurance that only highly qualified competent staff are utilised to achieve satisfactory results.

We regularly monitor and validate these results, even if our actual contractual obligations have ended providing feedback on the effectiveness of what we have accomplished. Such feedback provides the basis for continuous improvement, and is an invaluable asset for future work.

In order to control the scope and risk of any activities undertaken by LMRS, or its subcontractors, LMRS has documented and implemented an Integrated Management Plan (IMP).

The IMP has been based on the following standards:

  • ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Systems-Requirements
  • ISO 14001:1996 Environmental Management Systems
  • AS 4801:2001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems
The IMP is a practical culmination of requirements from the above standards and experience gained through administrating “works” over the years. The document targets key risk areas and provides the necessary systems, processes and activities for running the day to day activities in a safe and responsible manner.

In essence, the IMP provides the general direction for the business, (including legal and regulatory responsibilities) and ensures that work is planned, controlled and monitored. Current documentation is maintained and records of compliance are kept for all activities undertaken. The IMP is subject to internal audit, management review and continual improvement.

  Public Relations
LMRS have demonstrated experience in all aspects of Public Contact and Public Relations. This occurs at all levels of the organisation, and is a component controlled by our Integrated Management Plan (IMP). All staff has PR Training.

Our role in the Southern Long Term Road Maintenance Contract included responding to inquiries from the public. Similarly, our role in both the Duke Energy International and Basslink Project contracts involve considerable liaison with private land holders. Our response to enquiries conform to a Public Relations Plan, which requires a prompt and courteous response to all inquiries. The Public Relations Plan also details standards to be maintained at all worksites, particularly those involving traffic management. Procedures have been developed and are implemented in the event of any incidents involving members of the public to ensure that the matter is investigated and resolved to the satisfaction of the parties involved.

  Physical Works
As part of LMRS’s IMP, only suitably qualified and experienced subcontractors are selected to implement physical works. Each subcontractor is registered with LMRS and each operator is also suitably trained, qualified and experienced for the job they are required to complete.

  Occupational health and safety
LMRS have a documented Occupation Health and Safety System and Policy which applies to all employees and subcontractors while working for LMRS. LMRS is aware of its duties as employers, and is also aware of the requirement to inform employees and subcontractors of their duties.

Many of LMRS’s subcontractors have completed additional training, such as Oil Spill Technology, Senior Workplace First Aid, Public Relations and many hold additional technical qualifications such as Category 2 Chemical User Certificates, Chainsaw Tickets etc. We have current Workers Compensation, Public Liability ($20,000,000) and Professional Indemnity Insurance Policies.
